Hold the date…

We are delighted to announce the Whelkwood Winter Warmer ceilidh, which will be held on Wednesday, 18 December in the beautiful St Stephens Church, on Rampant Horse Street in Norwich.

Our caller, Biggles, will be leading a range of dances from the UK, France and Eastern Europe.

Timings will be 7.30-11 and tickets will cost £8 (£6 concs).

Tickets will be on sale soon, but do contact us via this site if you would like to reserve yours in advance.

What’s in a name?

WhelkWood is our translation of the name of a French tune ‘Bois de Bulot’. The shellfishy theme seemed to resonate with the shores, big skies and sea hawking of our home county of Norfolk and the French origin is a nod to music that comes from a shared heritage, across national boundaries.
